Besides, there may be some kernel extensions or hidden files that are not obvious. My change in launcher.sh above bypass all libraries in lib/common, which means RaySupreme will use my system's libraries instead. When installed, RaySupreme 3D 1.53 creates files in several locations. One (perhaps the only?) missing library in lib/common is libgio-2.0.so.0. This leads to version mismatch and crashes. Hence, for some dependencies, your system's versions are being used instead. However, it doesn't actually include all their dependencies. The root issue appears to be that RaySupreme includes some 'known' versions of standard libraries in lib/common.
#RAYSUPREME 3D THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO EXTENSIONS INSTALLED INSTALL#
(If it still doesn't work with this change, launch the 'launcher.sh' script manually in a terminal and see if it complains about missing libraries, in which case one would need to find and install those using apt-get or the software center). In the launcher.sh script there is this line: The version situation of that library on my system: The Ubuntu package that provides the problematic library: Probably this just means it is time to recompile with the latest version of the libraries. RaySupreme: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgio-2.0.so.0: undefined symbol: g_type_add_instance_private Running launcher.sh manually gives (just like abogdan found) that the relevant error is: usr/bin/zenity -error -text="Could not start RaySupreme\n(possibly a problem with loading shared libraries.)" The developers could perhaps just add something along the lines of this to the end of launcher.sh: It would be really nice if the loader threw up a dialog when it fails. It is quite possible this issue is related (I will try on a vanilla Ubuntu 14.04 eventually.)įirst, launching from steam just silent fails. I'm having the same problem, but I'm prepared to cut the developers a lot of slack as I am running a rather non-standard setup with gnome3.12 via the gnome3-staging ppa. Now this one is more of a problem because I'm not sure what is causing it. The second was './RaySupreme: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgio-2.0.so.0: undefined symbol: g_type_add_instance_private'. I created it manually as you indicated, so I think that's not a problem. The first was a 'failed to create symbolic link' for libGLEW.so.1.8 because it already exists. I did a 'Verify Integrity of Local Cache' and the launcher.sh file appeared. I looked for the launcher.sh file in the RaySupreme folder but it wasn't there. To run it from the steam folder from terminal, you shouldn't use directly RaySupreme binary, there should be a launcher.sh script, which sets up folders to search shared libraries before start RS itselft.
